If you are planning to seriously change your lifestyle, green living should be at the top of your choice list. Beside it is useful and good for the environment, it is fun. All of these changes require very little effort, but you will feel better knowing that you have done something good.
In any case, you should start from your home. There are million advices on how to live green and 99% of them include your house. This is because you spend a lot of time there and you want to be comfortable. In order to achieve this you must use appliances and devices that use electricity. Simple change in your lifestyle can be very effective. For example, replace your light bulbs. Energy efficient bulbs use 75% less energy and they last longer. Just one light bulb will save you $6 a year. Turn off the light when you are watching TV.
Expand your green living to your kitchen. You can recycle. Also, use eco-friendly appliances and turn them off when you don’t use them. Use microwave instead of oven. Avoid toxic detergents and cleaners. There are several eco-friendly cleaners.
If you have a garden, you can save even more water and energy. Use plants that don’t require a lot of water. There are a lot of alternatives. Collect rain water. You don’t need expensive systems. All you need is a big barrel. Use devices that don’t waste water, but provide only the amount of water your plants need.
Transportation usually includes: car, trains and busses. But you can do better if you walk or use a bicycle.
