How do indoor sprays harm the atmosphere? Source: Today I Found Out

There are many times that you may be using a variety of indoor sprays in your home. Some are used to get rid of odors and some are used for cleaning. However, did you know that the indoor sprays that you use in your home can harm the atmosphere? Generally these types of sprays are not considered to be pollutants or toxic. They are usually used to eliminate germs and dirt, degrease the stove, sanitize bathrooms, clean surfaces, hair sprays and for indoor pest control. However, the chemicals in these indoor sprays are actually pollutants that can harm the atmosphere. Insecticides sprays are especially dangerous as they leave a residue that can be picked up by crawling children and pets.

Many of the household cleaners contain nitrogen, phosphorus and ammonia and these ingredients are now listed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as some of the worst hazards for the environment. When these indoor sprays are released into the environment, they enter into the water systems, they cause dense vegetation that will clog up the waterways, which in turn destroys homes for aquatic animals and can deplete the oxygen in the water so that plants and fish cannot survive. In addition, household cleaners will also contaminate the air.

If you are using indoor sprays in your home, it is essential that you read the label. You can start protecting the environment by choosing the sprays you use and choose those indoor sprays that are made with only safe, natural, and/or organic ingredients.
